Betonbau delivers! Areas difficult to access we rather consider as challenges...

Technical building for a coupling station
Three technical buildings were realised for a coupling station in 2007 for a well-known energy provider.
The project involved a Type UF 3066 transformer housing for a 6.3 MVA 20kV/20kV coupling transformer, a Type UF 3042 arc suppression coil building and a Type UK 1700-23 MF local substation.
The network provider did not want an open-air transformer installation, due to the northerly exposed nature of the site.
- A unit ring of the same type with a reduced height was placed on the lower modular unit to increase the room height in the transformer box, the roof being slide-fixed over this.
- Betonbau realised the foundation of the building. A pile foundation was required, due to the difficult ground conditions.
- Transportation and installation presented a logistical challenge, as access for heavy-duty vehicles and a 160 to mobile crane was only possible via a ferry connection at high tide.
- The special location of the coupling station required a transportation route through front gardens with subsequent reconstitution of lawns and flower beds.
- The coupling transformer was delivered on the installation date and lowered into the building with the mobile crane prior to positioning the roof.
- The modular units are seamless, manufactured in a single casting and conform as transformer units to WHG §19 (water pollution protection).
All construction work was performed during realisation of the project.
