Our newly-developed concrete passenger shelters (BFU) are already in use at some stops of the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (Leipzig Transport Company). The concrete shelter consists of a weather-resistant seamless housing made of high-quality reinforced concrete with a strength category of C35/45 and exposure classes XC4, XF1 and XA1 complying with DIN 1045. The solid structure considerably reduces the vulnerability of the shelter to vandalism when compared to glass designs. The roof slab is made of concrete and slightly sloped towards the rear of the shelter. The application of an anti-graffiti coating means that "works of art" can be simply removed without leaving any residue.  The side wall dimensions can be adapted on site to suit the width of the railway platform.  Display cases can be fitted inside the shelter (e.g. for rail schedules). The bench seat can be shortened to provide unhindered access for wheelchairs and children's buggies. Design characteristics:

  • Surface design: Exterior synthetic resin float finish, paint finish on interior, selection of colours (graffiti can also be realised)
  • An on-site strip footing foundation enables the supply of media along the platform
  • The base slab below the surface enables the achievement of a homogenous platform level (even where slopes are encountered)
  • The precast component design shortens both the installation duration and the interruptions to railway station operations
